Diet Care - Tips for the monsoon

Posted by Labels: at

Although the monsoon brings welcome rains and relief from the summer heat, the thunderstorms that come with the monsoon bring their own hazards. So before the season gets underway, it is a good idea to care for your Diet.

Monsoons reduce the immunity of our body and make us susceptible to many diseases. Therefore, it is extremely essential to take care over the food we eat.

Here are some tips to take care of your diet during this season.

Wash vegetables thoroughly before cooking them, especially leafy vegetables like coriander, methi, mint, cauliflower which may contain larvae and worms.

Wash fruits before cutting. Go for seasonal fruits, as they are less likely to be infested compared to other fruits. You can also choose from a variety of exotic fruits like peaches, litchis, cherries and jamuns.

Chicken, fish and eggs should be cooked to a well-done stage.

Drink as much water as you can at regular intervals rather than waiting till you become thirsty.

              Use pasteurized and boiled milk.

Maintain general hygiene while eating out and definitely avoid roadside vendors as very few people have good immunity to handle the bacterial overload at such places
