Yes, you heard correct - engineers at Disney Research,
Pittsburgh come up with their new invention for smartphone touch screens to “Feel the Images”.
There is nothing to surprise when you move your finger on
touch screen and you feel jumps and bumps of the map/images. They have
developed a new technique that allows you to feel the texture of objects seen
on a flat touchscreen.
This invention is took place with the new algorithm called “Novel”. This Novel algorithm enables a
person sliding a finger across a topographic map displayed on a touchscreen to
feel the bumps and curves of hills and valleys, despite the screen's smooth
surface. This algorithm consist of so
many different effects in order to provide you real feel of 3D image over your
smooth touchscreen surface which is known as tactile feedback for dynamic visual content.
This algorithm is designed to create 3D bums on touch
surface. This bums and 3D effects created through some artificial stretching of
our skin when we slide/move our finger over touch screen.
According to Ivan Poupyrev, who directs Disney Research,
Pittsburgh's Interaction Group "Our brain perceives the 3D bump on a
surface mostly from information that it receives via skin stretching."
So get ready to feel images over smooth screen of your touchscreen
phones.
Nice Thanks for sharing :)
